How To Be The Best In Your Field
The secrets to success.
You can’t.
Or perhaps the better, more accurate answer is you probably can’t be.
With over seven and a half billion people on this planet, the thought of being the best in any field is very daunting.
We all want to say that we are number one, when in fact there is probably someone in your own hometown that’s better than you, let alone across the world.
But you don’t have to be the best to be recognizable. You don’t have to be the best to be successful. I recently wrote an article about success that states,
If you want to feel successful, take control of your life. Stop making like a coin toss and begin doing the footwork that will help you meet your ultimate goals. While you look towards that finish line, recognize that because you are consistently meeting your desired outcomes, you are already a success. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself not to fail.
So perhaps, you are not the best. However, this shouldn’t discourage you from trying.
The pursuit of being number one in anything is enough to keep you at the top. Competition is one of the things that drive people, so let it drive you to be recognizable, respectable, and credible.
The goal should be always striving to improve. You don’t need to be perfect to be good.
Letting go of your expectations to be the best allows you to try harder. It puts less pressure on you, allowing you to try with less fear of failure. This gives you the freedom to take risks, relax, and learn. Learning from the best is almost more helpful than being the best.
So, it’s okay to be second best. Or maybe third. Or 200th. Just keep trying to get there.
